Regardless of your political leanings, Stephen Colbert is funny. He gets outraged over the most random current events and pieces of pop culture. His newest crusade is against Miracle Whip’s anti-mayonnaise ad campaign. Apparently, Miracle Whip is trying to rebrand itself to speak to the coveted 18-34 year old consumer demographic. Colbert isn’t having any of it.

I follow several blogs, food-related and otherwise. This makes me a huge fan of Google Reader. It’s great since it puts the RSS feeds of all those blogs in one place and organizes them neatly by category. Here are some interesting food-related links that came up while I was perusing it today:

AdAge (and most of the rest of the food and marketing internet world) is covering the launch of Starbucks Via instant coffee.
Not all professionally-made cakes are beautiful. Today, Cake Wrecks rounds up some ugly chicken cakes.
Worldhum links to an interactive chart that lists the top 10 most and least carnivorous countries, determined by pounds of meat consumed per capita. Some of them are surprising.
The Kitchn’s Grilled Eggplant with Tomato and Goat Cheese would be great with some homemade bread.
And this Potato-Crusted Sausage, Leek and Spinach Quiche from Serious Eats looks like a tasty and filling addition to a fall brunch.
